Beacon adopted an electrification policy in March 2023.

The Beacon City council introduced the bill in November 2022 that would require all new building construction to be electric, rather than fossil fueled. Beacon became the third city in the state of New York to pass a SAFE building electrification policy. The policy requires all new building construction to be electric starting in 2024.
