In May 2020, Broomfield city council unanimously passed a six month moratorium on fossil fuel development. The policy paused the approval process for applications for oil and gas operations in the city, until November 2020. The city has also changed its land use to increase setbacks from fossil fuel infrastructure. These are great first steps. Now we need to make sure that Broomfield’s leaders pass a permanent policy to make the city SAFE.
