All major building types, including residential and non-residential buildings, are required to be electric under the ordinance. Outdoor pools, spas, and barbecues are included within the definition of an all-electric building. Electrification requirements also apply to stand alone Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). This is by far one of the strongest reach codes passed 2019. The code was updated in January of 2023
On December 17th, 2019 Cupertino voted unanimously to adopt an all-electric reach code for new construction.
