First introduced in July 2020 and unanimously approved by the Piedmont (California, US) City Council in February 2021, in June 2021 Piedmont’s “reach codes” went into effect. These amendments require newly constructed low-rise buildings to be all-electric. Additionally, projects that expand roof area by 30% or more or add new levels must install solar panels on the roof.
