Merri-bek endorsed the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty.

In May of 2021 the Merri-bek City Council voted to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, becoming the first local government in Australia to take this action. As part of the endorsement, the Council will send letters to the Federal MP and Foreign Minister calling on Commonwealth Government to support, negotiate and ratify the Treaty.
