In June 2021, the California state capital of Sacramento add their city to the growing list of places electrifying new construction. New construction under 3 stories needs to be all-electric starting in 2023, and all construction will need to meet the same requirements beginning in 2026.

The city also is working on existing building electrification policies to ensure and equitable transition away from methane gas.
